We are super grateful to our members that have helped us weather lockdown, and we are busting to get started with the youth lifting sessions again. We would like to welcome back our youth lifters, old and new, with the start of the new term. Our new taster classes will run throughout September so you have plenty of opportunity to come see what we are all about! We miss your smiley faces and crazy shenanigans!
We are seeking young people, wanting to be fit, healthy, and become a stronger version of themselves. We know sporting habits formed early carry into adulthood, and can be a great source of enjoyment, whilst also developing physical, and mental skills, that will enhance many other areas of their life too.
Weightlifting is not only about being strong; it also improves co-ordination, balance, flexibility, stability, cardiovascular fitness, speed and power. Resistance training should form a part of all youth and adult exercise requirements, we offer 2 dedicated sessions for youths per week, this meets government guidelines, to help contribute to a healthy body and compliment the qualities needed to be successful in many other sports to flourish and remain healthy and injury free.
We are a sociable club and want sessions to be fun, revolve about enjoying a sport and seeing the journey of a new weightlifter evolve. Our sessions are 1 hour long, with a maximum of seven participants, to ensure each lifter has plenty of guidance, and also gets to make good friends with their fellow lifters.
The structure of our sessions include:
*Group warm up – with focus on movement skills crawl/run/jump/throw
*A strength based element – using a mixture of bars+weights/dumbells/kettlebells/ bands and balls that evolve into the main olympic lifts and supporting exercises.
*Topped off by a game or circuit to include conditioning and core work before stretching and reflecting on the session together.
We welcome you to book a trial session for free using the link below. Our dedicated youth trial sessions are from 5-6pm on Monday and Friday evenings at the club for age 8+, Teens over 14 years are also welcome in either our youth or adult sessions.
Ongoing training is available via a monthly membership, or PAYG sessions or blocks.
Satellite Weightlifting Clubs
Our Satellite Clubs based in local education establishments are also starting back this September for those enrolled at @RichardTauntoncollege @SwanmoreSchool and new to the program this year @BartonPeveril – For more details on times for these clubs please contact their PE department.
As these teams return to training we also welcome you to join our youth sessions at @lakesideweightlifitng on Monday and Friday too for a satellite club drop in rate.
