Lakeside Weightlifting is a British weightlifting Talent Academy, offering dedicated youth classes and best practice in youth weightlifting for those looking to just have a go or go on to compete. The Lakeside Squad have direct access to the performance pathway for British Weightlifting Talent development squads.
As a beginner you learn the lifts step by step with a coach by your side and a wooden bar to develop skills before adding any load - once you are confident and able to perform the lifts well we move on to the group training program. Our weekly training covers the basics of Snatch, Clean and Jerk, along with accessory movements such as Squats, pulls, and presses to improve overall strength, we also use a variety of warm up and finisher exercises and conditioning including games, jumps, mobility, core and balance training to keep the youths fast supple and co-ordinated for all sports.
Lakeside Weightlifting Youth Squads
Meet on a Tuesday and Friday at 5pm and are aged 8-17 and we work from a progressive training plan that spans 12 weeks
The club has a full safeguarding policy and all youths must be picked up and dropped off at the door by a named parent or guardian. We also encourage parents to get involved and are welcome to stay and watch. Our Safeguarding Officer is Lucy Pearce and can be contacted on the email address below with any questions or concerns.
