


Lakeside Weightlifting is a prominent weightlifting club in Eastleigh, is proud to announce its newly acquired status as a British Weight Lifting (BWL) Inclusion Academy. This accreditation recognises the club’s commitment to engaging with youth weightlifting recruitment and fostering a sustainable club foundation.
As an Inclusion Academy, Lakeside Weightlifting joins a select group of clubs that are actively involved with BWL in providing safe, support, and inclusive training environments for young athletes. This achievement signifies Lakeside Weightlifting dedication to offering high-quality coaching that aligns with BWL’s long-term athlete development strategy, ensuring the growth and success of budding weightlifters.
The Inclusion Academy status is the first step in BWL’s Talent Academy pathway, where all clubs embark on their journey towards nurturing young athletes’ talent. Lakeside Weightlifting place in this esteemed group of clubs highlights their pivotal role in expanding the base of young athletes engaged in weightlifting and contributing significantly to BWL’s athlete recruitment strategy.

“The process for this accreditation started back in early 2019 and has evolved significantly during that time, we have learnt a large amount as an NGB about what is happening on the ground including the various challenges facing these clubs We are incredibly grateful to all the clubs who have engaged in the process, not only for their willingness to put the work in to achieve these standards but also for sharing their experience with each other and engaging in the various development opportunities we have provided.”
To assist in the development of Talent Academies like Lakeside Weightlifting, BWL has provided support including coach development opportunities, expert advice, a community platform for sharing good practice, equipment and financial support from Sport England. Lakeside Weightlifting is grateful for this support, which will enhance their ability to provide exceptional training experiences to aspiring Weightlifters.
As part of their new status, Lakeside Weightlifting will also be actively involved in BWL’s upcoming ‘Raise the bar project’ with local schools and clubs over Eastleigh Borough Council. Through this initiative, they will play a crucial role in reaching out to aspiring weightlifters and introducing them to the sport, creating a platform for future talent development.
Lakeside Weightlifting looks forward to Continuing their contribution to the growth and development of weightlifting. Their newly attained British Weight Lifting Inclusion Academy status solidifies their position as a leading weightlifting club in Eastleigh & Southampton and reinforces their commitment to nurturing the next generation of weightlifting champions.
