2022 Lakeside Powerpalooza

Our aim is to bring together the iron community of the UK for a weekend in the countryside competing in a festival of power sports as an individual or a team in either Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting or Strongman/Strongwoman events.

All competitions are open events allowing beginners to pros alike a chance to throw down together in their favourite strength sport.

Powerpalooza is hosted at the home of Lakeside Weightlifting club within Lakeside Country Park SO50 5PD. Events will be held outdoors on platforms within a grass amphitheatre.

Events are spread over 2 days with onsite parking, catering and merchandise.

Open Olympic Weightlifting Competition with British Weightlifting (BWL)

Male and Female youth, senior and masters lifters aged (8-85yrs). Entrants should be BWL members, to book your place at the Powerpalooza as a weightlifter log into your BWL members area and search competitions for Lakeside Powerpalooza to make your entries via BWL booking system. Open Powerlifting Competition with British Drug Free Powerlifting Association

(BDFPA) Male and Female, youths, seniors and master lifters. Entrants should be BDFPA members, to book your place at the Powerpalooza as a Powerlifter click and BOOK HERE.

Strongman & Strongwoman competition with Red Beard Barbell

For Novice and intermediate seniors and masters lifters – Max 10 athletes per category – to book your place at the powerpalooza as a strongman/woman click and BOOK HERE

Event 2 Yoke run – 10m drop and return – 60 second cap
Mens Novice – 180kg

Event 3 Pick up Truck pull – Harness pull, no arm over arm! – 20m – 60 seconds cap
Mens Novice – +200kg
Womens Novice – Empty truck
Mens Inters – +500kg

Event 4 Log clean & Press – Reps – 60 seconds
Mens Novice – 65kg (12″ log)
Womens Novice – 40kg (9″ log)
Mens Inters – 85kg (12″ log)

Event 5 Carry and drag – Carry 4 plates to a sled and drag back! – 15m – 75 second cap
Mens Novice – 4x 20kg plates + 60kg sled
Womens Novice – 4x 20kg plates + speed sled
Mens Inters – 4x 25kg plates +60kg sled
Womens Inters – 4x 25kg plates + speed sled

Events will be run by the relevant governing body rules and memberships to these bodies must been place to take part Lifters will be split into gender and weight class groups and a schedule will be published with timings for weigh in and lifting once all entries are in.

FAQ’s – Please do read through these before contacting us directly.

When will the schedules for flights and groups be released for the weekend? 

Once all entries are in schedules will be released – Please do not contact us asking when you will be lifting as we will not be able to tell you until one week before the event when all the bookings are closed.  We advise keeping both days of the weekend free unless you are strongman, all strongman will be held on the saturday. 

Weigh-ins will not be before 7.30am for any event. 

Travel, transport and accommodation. 

By Train Or Plane 

The country park is located a 10 minute walk from Southampton Airport Parkway train station and Southampton Airport

By Car 

There is an event car park for competitors – access to this parking requires proof of entry to the competition. There are free additional spaces within the country park available but will be shared by other country park users and may well be limited if full additional metered parking can be found at Southampton Airport opposite the Country Park we please ask that spectators try the main car park and if full use alternative local off site parking. Please try to share lifts where possible. 

The County park is 5 minutes drive from Eastleigh town centre – and all the hotels below are within 5-10 minutes drive from the site.

Arrival on site

Competitors please plan to arrive 30 minutes before your weigh in. Come in the country park entrance and follow the lane to the event parking entrance – please have your confirmation email from the relevant competition entry ready for the gate staff. Once parked please head to registration for your pass and to go through to weigh in.

Spectators please head past the event parking into the main country park car park – If there are no spaces please head straight back out to the Southampton Airport parking – Marshalls on site will be able to help also. 

Food and Drink 

There will be hot and cold food and drinks on site. There is also a Cafe at the park and the town centre is a 5 minute drive away with a selection of supermarkets and cafes. 

Welfare, First Aid, and Toilets. 

Welfare, first aid and toilets will be in the event arena as you enter from the carpark. 

The site is grass and as such not easy for wheelchair users to navigate – but there are disabled toilets and additional public toilets in the main country park site 5 minutes walk from the carpark. 

I have booked to compete but now I cannot make it – do I get a refund? 

All entries are non-refundable – unless for medical reasons and a Doctors note can be provided.

I have booked into a certain weight category – I am not going to make it can I change it?

You can change your category but be aware that if the category you wish to change to is full you will not be able to compete – including if you do this on the day and the other category may have already competed or have different weight in times. Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to change weight class. We will not be responsible for any oversights on timings of the category you wish to join or if it is full.
